The first studio recordings in 20 years from infamous Cleveland, OH, by way of California, hardcore/powerviolence band affectionately named for Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment number. The band now features a revamped lineup including legendary PHC/Charred Remains guitarist Shawn Connell, Excruciating Terror bassist Mardin Martinez, and Cave State drummer Jay Castro. The packaging includes two stickers, a 6" x 6" photo card, an insert with credits and history, and more.

Process of Elimination, Dead Heat's first album for Metal Blade, sees the Oxnard, California-based band reaching a sonic and lyrical apex across 11 heavy tracks, produced by the band with Paul Fig (Deftones, Trivium, Jerry Cantrell). "Perpetual Punishment" opens the record with gentle guitar before kicking into aggro/hardcore mode. "We chose this song to start Process… because when it hits, it's hard, and has a great flow," states singer Chris Ramos. "Lyrically it's about not wasting your time in life because tomorrow simply isn't promised. It's a key theme I always try to portray in lyrical form, or even in random stage banter. I feel like it's what's keeps me going on every day."

After completing the final objective and rising from the ashes of the recently self-immolated GRIDLINK, Takafumi Matsubara and Bryan Fajardo now set mission coordinates towards BARREN PATH.

Recruiting Maruta/Shock Withdrawal vocalist Mitchell Luna and re-enlisting grindcore commandos Mauro Cordoba and Rory Kobzina from the Coronet Juniper sessions, this operation requires relinquishing high tech weaponry. Cross Faded is a ripping tribute to getting fucked up. LA’s premier craft beer-themed powerviolence band Trappist (featuring members of Spazz, Despise You and Infest) join forces with the self-proclaimed “full-blown marijuana addicts” in Connoisseur for a ripping split that delivers both speed and sludge.

The song is 30 seconds long, a minute at most. The drums are a blast of kick and snare; the guitars and bass blend together in a rumbling, noisy blur; the vocals are a raw-throated cry of rage. Is it grindcore or is it powerviolence? The two subgenres have much in common, and yet, for those whose ears are attuned to minute differences in subgenre, the distinction is clear.

Trappist — a.k.a. Spazz's Chris Dodge, Crom and Despise Your's Phil Vera, and Ryan Harkins, co-owner of the popular heavy metal–themed burger joint Grill Em' All — will release their debut album, Ancient Brewing Tactics, August 17th via Relapse Records.
